In 2022 we evolved from our origins as the Moorebank Intermodal Company, when our mandate to oversee the Moorebank logistics hub in Western Sydney was expanded to facilitate a national network of intermodal precincts.
Our precincts provide strategically located logistics connections and warehousing to support Inland Rail and bring to life the Australian Government’s vision for a modern and efficient freight network. With open-access arrangements, our goal is to drive economic growth through competitive transport links that are efficient and provide value for money, ultimately improving the supply of goods at lower costs for all Australians.

Strategic priorities
Improve supply chain resilience
National Intermodal’s open access precincts are helping to deliver a more integrated national rail freight network that is flexible and scalable.
Increase logistics efficiency
Rail transport plays an essential role in meeting Australia’s growing freight demand, with National Intermodal’s precincts providing connections across New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.
Improve sustainability
We’re working to decarbonise terminal operations and investing in biodiversity conservation projects at our precincts, as well as supporting the communities where we operate.
